Music. Call for Grants 2020

Emergency grants to support outreach activities for music and musicians, performers and composers of the Balearic Islands until April 20, 2020 and the activities developed during the year 2019 (from 1st July)

This call is intended to contribute to the outreach of music and professional musicians, performers and composers of the Balearic Islands for the period from July 1, 2019 to April 20, 2020, with the purpose of fostering the exchange and cultural relationship between Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera and between the Balearic Islands and mainland Spain and abroad, and to alleviate the direct effects of the measures in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Budget: 170,000 €

Funding Programmes 

a) Mobility: Support for the mobility of artists, managers, phonographic publishers and other professionals in the field of music.

b) Promotion: Support for the promotion of music and musicians, performers and composers outside of the Balearic Islands.

 


 

a) Mobility Support

Who may apply?

Individuals and legal entities related to music composition and performance and other actors in the field of music, regardless of their tax residence.

 

Projects eligible for funding

Travel and accommodation expenses of artistic personnel and crew members outside the island of residence on the following activities:

•      Live Performances in venues, festivals, showcasing festivals, etc.

•      Attending trade fairs, with or without showcase or booth.

•      Training placements and musical residencies.

Only paid performances that are performed in spaces equipped with regular music programming or that are included in the programming of music events, will be eligible. In exceptional cases, performance at fairs and markets can be subsidized, regardless of whether the activity is paid or not, given the interest these activities represent in the internationalization of music creation. The cost of performing in the island of residence, events of a charity nature or outside of professional circuits, or activities in the field of popular and traditional culture are not eligible.

 

Expenses covered

Travel expenses of people and cargo by land, sea and air, and accommodation, registration and per diems, up to a maximum specified amount.

The expenses mentioned above that have already been incurred and linked to activities canceled or postponed due to the preventive measures decreed by the Public Administrations to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, will also be eligible.

 

Maximum amounts

 

 * Only 2 registrations per application will be accepted. 

** This amount is the combined maximum that can be granted for cargo, extra seats and instrument rental.

The applicant must submit the relevant invoices for travel and accommodation expenses, as well as registration when necessary. The paid amount cannot exceed the maximum amount indicated in the table above.

 


 

b) SUPPORT FOR PROMOTION PROJECTS OUTSIDE THE BALEARIC ISLANDS

Who may apply?

Individuals and companies with professional activities related to music performance and musical composition, managerial tasks, the production and publication of phonographic, audiovisual and graphic materials, production of shows, etc., located or created in the Balearic Islands, regardless of their tax residence. 

 

Projects eligible for funding

Activities framed in an overseas promotion plan such as:

•      Concert tours outside the island of residence or participation in trade fairs.

•      Production of graphic, phonographic and audiovisual materials aimed at supporting tours, live performances and presence in trade fairs.

•      Hiring of professional production services, artistic, technical and communication personnel, etc., for concert tours.

Expenses covered

•      Travel expenses of people and cargo carried by land, sea and air, and accommodation, up to the maximum amount specified.

•      Production of graphic, phonographic and audiovisual elements.

•      Professional fees and hiring professional services.

•      Equipment rental.

•      Editing and translation of graphic material.

The expenses mentioned above that have already been incurred and linked to activities canceled or postponed due to the preventive measures decreed by the Public Administrations to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, will also be eligible.

 

Quantities

The following quantities can be requested:

a) For expenses related exclusively to mobility, the amounts will be awarded in accordance with the following:

b) A percentage will be granted on the rest of expenses described above that are not included in section a), which can reach up to 80%.

The maximum amount will be calculated in accordance with the assessment score of the project, based on the criteria set out in point 4.3 of the terms and conditions, found at http://www.iebalearics.org/en/, up to a maximum amount of € 8,000 per project.

 


 

Maximum amount per applicant

The maximum amount that an applicant may receive from the Fund is 15.000 €.

 

Applicant's obligations

The applicant must inform the IEB about the organisation of any public event related to the subsidized activity.

The applicant must mention the IEB sponsorship on all the leaflets, posters and advertising material by including the IEB and the regional Ministry of Culture, Participation and Sport's logos, both available here

 

Grants payments

The payment of the grant will be effective, generally, in a single payment, which will be made once the applicant has accredited fulfilling the purpose for which the grant has been granted and justified the performance of the subsidized activity in the terms of this call.

A single partial payment may be made through partial justifications and settlements with the same conditions and requirements as those for ordinary payments. Partial liquidations and justifications for the activity partially completed may be attached to the documentation attached to the application, but they will only have effect if the grant is granted. 

If at the time of submitting the application all the activity has already been completed, the documentation related to the liquidation and justification can be attached, although it will only take effect if the grant is granted. In any case, the documentation can be submitted once the grant has been awarded.

 

Deadline for submitting the applications

The deadline for submitting applications will be open from the day after the call is published in the BOIB and will remain open until June 15, 2020.

No application submitted after the deadline or any modification of the documentation related to the eligible project that is subject to valuation will be accepted.

If the amount stated in this call is exhausted before the expiration of the deadline for submitting applications, the granting of subsidies may be suspended by publishing a resolution of the President of the IEB in the BOIB.

When the applicant is a legal entity, the application has to filed through its legal representative, duly accredited. At any time, the original documentation may be requested for verification purposes.
