Call for grants for Catalan-language media in the Balearic Islands for the year 2024

1. Budget

The credit assigned to this call is €720,000 (seven hundred and twenty thousand euros).

2. Object and purpose

The purpose of this call for grants is to support Catalan-language media in the Balearic Islands, with the aim of contributing to consolidating the communication space that is expressed in this language.

3. Lines

The call is distributed in the following aid lines:

Line A. For the publication, during the year 2023, of a publication of general information with a daily frequency : €200,000.00.

Line B. For projects to enable publishing in Catalan during the year 2024: €40,000.00.

Line C. For the publication , during the year 2023, of a local publication : €205,000.00.

Line D. For the publication, during the year 2023, of a publication on a specialized subject : €40,000.00.

Line E. For the broadcast, during the year 2023, of television programming : €100,000.00.

Line F. For the broadcast, during the year 2023, of radio programming : €90,000.00.

Line G. For the dissemination of digital audiovisual content , during the year 2023, or for the launch, during the year 2024, of a digital platform for audiovisual content : €35,000.00.

Line H. for the execution of actions and measures in defense of Catalan and local media : €10,000.

4. Beneficiaries

The beneficiaries of this call for grants may be the following:

1. Natural persons domiciled in the Balearic Islands.
2. Private companies with registered office in the Balearic Islands that carry out, in accordance with their corporate object, the publication of journalistic publications, local press or specialized thematic, the broadcasting of television or radio programs or the dissemination of audiovisual digital content.
3. Non-profit entities that carry out, in accordance with their corporate object, the publication of journalistic publications, local press or specialized thematic, the broadcasting of television or radio programs or the dissemination of audiovisual digital content, or whose purpose is to group and defend the interests of the media of the Balearic Islands, of proximity and in Catalan.
4. Groups of natural or legal persons, public or private, without personality, communities of goods or any other type of economic unit or separate heritage that, despite not having legal personality, are in the situation that motivates the granting of these subsidies and are domiciled in the Balearic Islands.
5. Councils of the Balearic Islands or entities that depend on them, in the case of lines F and G.

5. Application submission deadline

The deadline for submitting applications, addressed to the IEB, begins on March 1, 2024 and will remain open until April 3, 2024.

6. Submission of applications

Interested persons may submit applications through the following channels:

a) Natural persons:

• Electronically through the online procedure that will be available in the procedure published in the Electronic Headquarters of the Institute of Balearic Studies, which can be accessed from the website http://iebalearics.org .
• In person at the registration offices of the IEB, of the Regional Administration or in any of the other places established in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the common administrative procedure of the public administrations.

b) Subjects obliged to relate electronically with public administrations in accordance with the provisions of article 14.2 and 3 of Law 39/2015, of October 1, on the common administrative procedure of public administrations:

• Electronically through the online procedure that will be available in the procedure published in the Electronic Headquarters of the Institute of Balearic Studies, which can be accessed from the website http://iebalearics.org .

A grant application must be submitted for each means of communication and the line chosen must be specified.

7. Period of justification

The beneficiaries of the grants will have twenty business days from the day after the date of notification of the award decision to provide the supporting account according to the model available at the electronic headquarters of the Institut d'Estudis Baleàrics and at the website http://iebalearics.org .

In the case of line B and line G projects that start in 2024, the deadline for justification is until January 31, 2025.
