A BALEARIC DELEGATION TRAVELS TO CHILE TO PARTICIPATE IN TEATRO A MIL AND SANTIAGO OFF, TWO PERFORMING ARTS FESTIVALS WITH GREAT INTERNATIONAL PROJECTIONComunicació Fira B!
Balearic and Catalan artists will give 40 performances in different Chilean cities and venues
In a joint action by Catalan Arts and the Institut Ramon Llull, with the collaboration of the Institut d'Estudis Baleàrics, a Balearic delegation has travelled to Chile to participate in the Teatro a Mil and Santiago Off festivals, two very important and internationally renowned performing arts festivals.
The company Hotel Iocandi, formed by the Mallorcan Tomeu Amer and the Catalan Griselda Juncà, will perform the play "Peix" on 18th and 19th January at this year's Teatro a Mil. The Mallorcan companies Tshock Cultura Emocional and Hermanas Picohueso will be in Santiago OFF. Tshock Cultura Emocional will present "Magallanes 2.0" on 27 and 28 January, while Las Hermanas Picohueso will present "Lucy Qüin", a play produced in collaboration with Teatro Bruma. The Mallorcan artists will perform in Chile alongside the Catalan companies Pau Aran, Sarruga, Insectotròpics, Ça Marche and Reinaldo Ribeiro. In total, Catalan and Balearic artists will give 40 performances in different Chilean cities and venues.
In addition, artists, programmers and performing arts distributors from Catalonia and the Balearic Islands will also participate in Platea 23, Programmers Week of the Festival Internacional Teatro a Mil, which begins today, January 17th, until next Sunday, January 22nd. Among them are the Mallorcans: Maria Antònia Oliver, director of the Eima Festival, and Josep Ramon Cerdà, director of the Teatro Principal de Palma, who are participating as programmers, along with Catalan representatives from FiraTàrrega, Festival Gre, Danseu Festival, l'Autèntica, La Central del Circ and Sala Fènix.
The Chilean-born choreographer Andrea Cruz, a collaborator in the last edition of Fira B!, is also attending Platea 23 to promote exchange between the Balearic Islands and Chile in the field of the performing arts, as well as to publicise the 2023 edition of Fira B! and encourage reciprocity between the Professional Music and Performing Arts Market of the Balearic Islands and key agents of the Chilean scene.
